Mascara On The Run

Chris Mascara has a cool name and musical talent, which is just about all you need to start a band.  Labeled a musical prodigy, Mascara grew up playing the organ and eventually started in stage productions including “Jesus Christ Superstar,” which costarred Gary Cherone of Extreme.  Now, with his band Mascara, he performs high-energy theatrical rock, sometimes reminiscent of Queen.  Tonight Mascara celebrates his band’s new album, “Spell,” with a CD-release party at the Lizard Lounge at 9.  The show also features Ramona Silver, Binary System and Reverend Glasseye.  Tickets:  $8.  Lizard Lounge, 1667 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge,  617-547-0759.  www.lizardloungeclub.com
