If Jesus had a rock band, he’d call it Mascara. Think we’re being flip?  We’re not: Chris Mascara was hailed for his portrayal of Jesus in the Boston Rock Opera’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar.  He and his trio perform tonight at the Lizard Lounge (1667 Mass Ave, Cambridge, 617.547.0759) to celebrate the release of Spell, their second album.  To catch a preview of the bohemian rockers’ follow-up to the critically acclaimed Cellar Door, purchase tickets early – and at a discount – at www.virtuous.com, or but directly at the club ($9 in advance; $10 at the door). Although Mascara’s set doesn’t begin until 10:45 p.m., be sure to arrive early and see opening acts Ramona Silver at 9 and the Binary System at 9:45.
